CIBC Double Double Day
Canadians love to double up, and nothing beats a Double Double coffee from Tim Hortons. That’s why CIBC was so excited to introduce their latest credit card: the dollars to donuts CIBC Double Double Visa Card.
Double overtime. Double rainbows. Double bacon! Canadians love to double up, and with the new CIBC Double Double Visa Card, they were able to earn double the points at their favourite coffee shop. It was the first 2-in-1 credit card in the country, giving CIBC a brand presence in over 3,500 Tim Hortons nation-wide. But first, they had to introduce Canadians to this payment innovation.

To kick off the card’s launch, we invaded one of the busiest intersections in the country: Yonge-Dundas Square in downtown Toronto. We set up with a live concert stage, Timmies-themed games, and of course, a whole lot of free coffee. The square was packed from morning rush hour to late afternoon, and even caught the attention of Grammy-nominated DJ Deadmau5, who shared a pic from the event with over 10 million of his social media followers.
Our brand ambassadors engaged over 13,000 visitors, handing out over 20,000 Timbits and 7,000 cups of coffee to caffeine-craving commuters. Online, our #DoubleDoubleDay hashtag trended with over 2,000 mentions, and we earned over 12,000 likes and comments on Facebook. In total, our event earned 22 million social media impressions – not bad for a day’s work!
