FUSE Is Heading to South By!
10 Days to #SXSW
10 days and counting until some of the most amazing minds of the digital and technology world descend on the ATX (a.k.a. Austin, Texas) to share their knowledge of everything new and cool at the largest interactive festival, South By Southwest.
The Interactive portion of SXSW began in 1994 with just 36 speakers and less than 1,000 attendees; well it’s now 2015 and things have changed. With the conference attracting over 30,000 attendees with over 2800 speakers. Not to mention they are looking for 2015 to be the festival’s biggest year yet; with highlights including keynote speakers Paola Antonella (MoMA), Princess Reema Bint Bandar Al-Saud (Alfa Intl), Martine Rothblatt(United Therapeutics) and Astro Teller from Google[X]. Not to mention one of my favorite speakers Gary Vaynerchuk from Vayner Media, not only is this guy smart he is funny as sh*t.
SXSW Mentor Series
FUSE Marketing Group is sending members from our strategy, account and creative teams to get in on the action. This year, I am also super stoked to have also been asked to join the SXSW Mentor Series , which allows me to share marketing and content knowledge with start-ups, companies, attendees and whoever else needs a little insight.
Known to most as ‘South By’, this event is also home to some pretty amazing brand activations including Oreo’s ‘Eat Your Tweet’ 3D printed Oreo Booth last year. I am blown away by the amount of money and time brands put into the SXSW experience, it’s not too often that you see 62 foot high Doritos machines with a 4 story screen that doubles as a stage. SXSW is a place for not only knowledge it is a place for inspiration, everyone that attends SXSW comes out with a little more fire in their belly than they went in with. For some like myself I think it is a little bit more like a raging inferno.
I want to do stuff, I want make stuff…I WANT TO DO EPIC SH*T and this is the place to inspire and help drive that. Some of our biggest focuses for FUSE are digital, social, creativity, content, technology and innovation; so this conference is right up our alley for what we do and what we want to do. I am very interested to see where last year’s biggest trends like digital health, 3D printing and wearables will go this year. If I had to guess I think the hot word this year will be ‘content’.
More Than a Conference
I can’t say that this is just all about sessions and workshops, SXSW is also a key place for networking and engaging with new companies and technologies; not to mention world-class barbeque, a few fun parties and the infamous 6th Street.

Lots happening in Austin today… the city is bustling with a bizarrely entertaining cross section of tech nerds and hipsters. However much of a juxtaposition it may be, it seems to work perfectly.
Coming from a very design oriented business, we’re kind of entertained by how designers are the new IT kids of tech… they’ve always been the IT kids for us. Hipsters unite!
