-- Toronto agency creates digital campaign to raise awareness of need for support
for children’s hospitals across Canada --
Toronto, ON. When faced with the challenge of raising awareness of the need for support for our country’s children’s hospitals that affect the lives of our most vulnerable citizens, Canada’s Children’s Hospital Foundations (CCHF) engaged FUSE Marketing Group Inc. (www.fusemg.com) -- the Toronto-based, privately held integrated agency offering a full range of consumer insight research, advanced social listening, marketing, brand story mapping, campaign and content creation, XM, digital and social media buying, and more -- to create a campaign to help brand and build awareness of their growing property: Children’s Miracle Network® (CMN) Champions presented by Walmart Canada program. The program celebrates children and their remarkable stories of care from hospitals across Canada, to showcase the significant impact the hospitals have in each of their communities in order to raise funds locally to continue their essential work.
FUSE created a fully digital campaign timed to launch with a national celebration event in Ottawa, welcoming 11 children “Champions” from 12 hospital foundations on March 5 for Children’s Hospital Week. FUSE’s campaign concept, “Stand by our Champions” takes life in a compelling and uplifting video designed and shot to inspire Canadians to rally together to support the young patients, who have faced critical illness or injury. The video, shot with 12 of the brave Champions in Ottawa who sing the powerful classic, Stand by Me, asks viewers to #StandByOurChampions in support of the hospitals that treat more than 2.3 million kids each year. The celebration was followed by a larger gathering of youth from across the US in Orlando from March 6 to 9, where the video made its debut. Additional live content in Orlando was shot by FUSE onsite for compelling social media support (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube) profiling the Champion children and their heartwarming stories.
“We wanted to demonstrate the power of the children, parents and health professionals coming together to stand by our children’s hospitals,” explained Mark Hierlihy, CEO, CCHF. “We chose to work with FUSE on this significant initiative because they demonstrated both the creative and digital skills to connect these incredible Champions with Canadians that care.”
“This CMN campaign was an outstanding opportunity for us to engage our country with a compelling creative strategy that makes a powerful statement, while doing some very meaningful, grassroots work for a worthy cause close to all of our hearts,” added Stephen Brown, president, FUSE Marketing Group. “We’re proud to support this important initiative.”
Added Mr. Hierlihy, “CCHF is very much like the culture of FUSE itself. It was a tremendous experience with a great vibe working with the project team – all hard workers, committed to the project and creative, but never taking their eye off the core objectives of the campaign.”
The video: Stand by our Champions
The story opens on one child, singing alone. The shot then splits, to see two singing in the same space. As the singing and music continues more shots are introduced, with more children, more voices and instruments, singing together but separately. The song and energy build until the single full screen shot is of everyone singing together as a whole. The end caption: children’s hospitals treat more than 2.3 million kids in Canada each year. Stand by them. Donate now to help kids get the best care when they need it.
